Youth groups from Christ Church, Edmonton, and St. Augustine’s Parkland, Spruce Grove joined together this weekend for a Youth Alpha Retreat held at St. Augustine’s Parkland, Nov 14-15, 2014. “It was an amazing time to learn about God and how He loves us, while having fun at the same time,” said one youth. “Totally recommend it for everyone,” said another.
The two groups bonded over activities such as worship time, a “Pajama Prayer” night, led by the Ven. Joanne Webster, and group discussions, as well as dodgeball, outdoor games and good food. “We really wanted to make space for the students to meet God,” says Alpha Coordinator Amy Croy.“You’re never sure when bringing different groups together, whether they’re going to bond, says Sydney Caron, a retreat leader and member of the Ascend Community at Christ Church. “But when everyone shares a strong faith, you realize these people are a lot like me!”
