A vigil for 19-month-old Anthony Joseph Gordon Raine will be held at Good Shepherd Anglican Church, 15495 Castle Downs Road on Tuesday, April 25, 7:00-9:00 pm.
All members of the community are welcome to drop in, to light a votive candle or to sit for a time of prayer or silence and remember Anthony.
Upon hearing the tragic news of the toddler’s death, Anglican Diocese of Edmonton Bishop Jane Alexander, who is attending a conference in London, asked for prayers for the little boy:
“In London, but my heart is with the people of Good Shepherd and the Castle Downs community. Unbelievable tragedy in the loss of a child’s life in Castle Downs. The police investigation is ongoing. In the meantime let us offer prayers for the repose of the soul of this beautiful little boy strong in the promise of the resurrection and of the safety found in the arms of God. Let us pray too, that those who know something will come forward so that healing may begin for all who knew him. We know that children are particularly close to God’s heart.”
The Rev. Jonathan Connell, rector of Good Shepherd, said his parish began their Sunday service with a moment of silence for Anthony.
The family has started a GoFundMe page https://www.gofundme.com/4gam5-2500 to raise money for a memorial service.
