The
Diocese of Edmonton
Planned
Giving Office
Quarterly
Report
December
2005
A
Planned Giving thought:
Your WILL transfers your property to the people and
organizations you choose.
Your neglect of WILL transfers your property to the
people the government chooses.
As
mentioned in my last Quarterly Report, one of my first
priorities was to review and update the Planned Giving
materials available in the Diocese. The Planned Giving
pamphlet has been updated and distributed to parishes.
Additional pamphlets and/or materials for the website
are being developed.
The
Planned Giving material on the Diocesan website has
been expanded to include an electronic version of the
Planned Giving pamphlet, a form that may be used to
request added information, and the Planned Giving Policy
and Guidelines document. Look under the Stewardship
heading on the website to find the new material.
As
also mentioned in my last report, a second priority
was to prepare a Planned Giving Workshop to be delivered
throughout the Diocese. Several workshops have been
presented and several more are booked. If you would
like one at your parish, please contact me as noted
below.
Another
initiative I have been working on is the Diocesan application
to become a Pilot Diocese for Letting Down the Nets,
a General Synod initiative that has four areas of emphasis:
Stewardship Education; Proportional Gifts to General
Synod; re–examining the four Annual Appeals; and,
Planned Giving and Major Gifts. Background material
was posted to the website under the Stewardship heading.
A series of meetings led up to a day–long presentation
to Geoff Jackson, Chair of the LDTN Steering Committee,
and Rob Waller, a Committee member, on September 30th.
Some of the material that was presented on that day
has also been posted on the website under the Stewardship
heading, in particular, a profile of our Diocese. The
Bishop’s Charge to Synod in October contained
several challenges that were reported at the September
30th meeting. Copies of the Charge have been widely
distributed and it is also posted to the website under
the 59th Synod heading.
If
you have questions, want to schedule a Planned Giving
Workshop, or want to talk about a planned gift, please
