Tim Chesterton leads the new Edmonton diocese initiative to train licensed Lay Evangelists. Chesterton, who is rector of St. Margaret’s, Edmonton, is passionate about helping Christians share their faith. As Warden of Lay Evangelists, he will train others as witnesses to provide outreach and evangelism leadership in their parishes.
“Evangelists don’t pretend to have all the answers,” he said, “but they live their lives transparently and honestly, so that others can see God at work in them. They look for opportunities to help the church connect with the non-Christian world around. They are always on the lookout for new ways their congregations can serve their neighbours in Jesus’ name.”
Chesterton will be available to share information about the licensed Lay Evangelist program with parishes, clergy and leaders. The first group of evangelists will begin a two-year training program (six Saturday sessions each year) in 2015-2016.
