Messy Church: What’s it all about?

Messy Church Logo

Messy Church began in April 2004 in an Anglican church near Portsmouth. It’s a way for families to get together and learn more about Christ through crafts, stories, food and fun. These programs are run in the early evening or on weekends outside the normal Sunday morning church schedule. Most Messy Church groups meet once a month, but some meet as often as once a week. A significant characteristic of Messy Church is welcoming whole families together to eat, create, worship and most of all have fun!

A typical session might look like this:

  • 5:30 pm Welcome
  • 5:45 pm Meal
  • 6:30 pm Craft
  • 7:15 pm Worship
