Stories can be medicine for communities, for families and for individuals in the work of healing, reconciliation and building new and right relationships.
In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action, the Diocese of Edmonton’s Indigenous Ministries Initiative and Bleeding Heart Art Space have collaborated on Maskihkîy âcimowin/Medicine Stories, a new public art installation that will be open until Saturday, June 21, National Aboriginal Day.
The following events are scheduled to take place at The Giving Tree. Each event runs from 1:00-3:00 pm.
- Saturday, June 10 Leaf-making event facilitated by RISE (Reconciliation in Solidarity Edmonton https://www.facebook.com/RISEdmonton/) Join us and make colourful leaves for the tree. Share your thoughts and experiences about reconciliation and healing. The leaves will become a permanent part of the installation.
- Saturday, June 17 Live music event. Live music from a variety of local performers, including indigenous, non-indigenous and newcomer musicians.
- Wednesday, June 21 (National Aboriginal Day) Closing ceremony followed by a feast.
