How to Invite, Sample Timeline and Intro Sermon

St. Margaret’s Edmonton has provided these wonderful resources for launching Back to Church Sunday in our parishes.

The  How To is a bulletin insert describing the process of prayer and invitation, pick up and follow up.

The Time Line is St. Margaret’s plan for making the welcome, planning and teaching in the weeks leading up to Back to Church Sunday. It’s a great starting point for planning in your own parish.

The Intro Sermon is Rev. Tim Chesterton’s first sermon to ramp up the congregation for Back to Church Sunday 2011. Faithful, insightful and inspiring it’s worth the read and may give you some ideas about BTCS and how to introduce it.

Michael Harvey

We have been blessed to welcome Back to Church Sunday Coordinator Michael Harvey, Manchester, England, to our diocese on two occasions. At Clergy Day, in April, he prepared parishes to take part in B2CS on September 26th. In October, presenting at our 62nd Synod, he shared with us ways we can continue to be a welcoming and inviting church. You can download Michael’s PowerPoint presentations: “Unlocking the Growth” and “Unlocking More Growth”

Back to Church Sunday

Parishes in the Diocese of Edmonton participated in the Back to Church Sunday invitational for the first time-ever on September 26th, 2010. Now the largest single local-church invitational initiative in the world, B2CS is based on the simplest and shortest step in evangelism – that we should invite someone we already know to something we love; invite our friend to our church. You can read an article about the first B2CS in the diocese in the November 2010 issue of The Messenger.
